Zentangle
My artwork looks like a black and white outline. The subject matter is an elephant with a sun beginning to set in the background. Both the sun and the elephant are covered in zentangle. I believe I would title this artwork illusion or distinction because there is so much going on in the creation and it is also kind of difficult to make out the elephant and the sun. Some elements used in this creation would be the use of lines, shapes and value. To create my artwork, I started off researching the whole idea of zentangle and its purpose. After, I looked up the different patterns and designs used in order to get an idea of what to do. After the research, I drew some sketches. I drew both and elephant and an owl. I really loved the elephant so I decided to do the final piece an elephant. I was inspired by the meaning behind the actual animal itself. An elephant is a very peaceful animal and in many cultures is considered to be wise and could bring luck. It is said that if the elephant's trunk faces upward, then it means good luck but if it’s facing down then it brings bad luck. In this piece I didn’t really try to show much emotion and left it completely up to the viewer to decide. Some goals were that I tried to incorporate as many different designs as possible. I tried to focus more on creativity and did most of the designs on my own. This artwork helped me be more creative and it helped with my boredom and kept me relaxed and stress free. In the end, the artwork didn’t really turn out the way I imagined. I didn’t really plan on having the elephant blend in with the sun because now it is harder to tell the difference between the two. I learned to take my time and not rush just to finish on time.
